Post My M20 early model turbo guide.
This was a semi budget kit and should be a good guide for anyone getting ready to boost their car.

Manifold: eBay special, thin wall tubing, might not last forever, but so far so good. If it breaks, take it to a good exhaust shop to patch the welds, should still be under $300 and will be a manifold that should last forever.

Turbo: Another eBay special, i suggest against them, i got lucky and mine has lasted great and has the same shaft play as when i removed it from the box. Popular turbos for e30s are the "Holset HX35" found on turbo diesel engines.

Oil lines: I ordered a -3an feed from "fast-turbo.com" (great guys), roughly 3ft long. Drain i used an adapter plate which i can't remember where i got it from, but you should be able to find something fairly easy searching the web for "T3 oil drain flange". I bought a brass nipple from Menards, matched the diameter to a drill bit, drilled the pan directly under the turbo with it still on the car. Use a lot of grease to catch any metal shavings. I wallered the hole slightly until it was a tight fit, hammered the fitting in and JB welded it to seal it. Drain your pan before doing this as you will have a huge oil spill (i'm sure you can figure out how i know ). I personally used PCV tubing sold at O'reily's, it was a perfect fit and holding up fine without getting soft or brittle from the heat and oil.

- Oil filter relocation, required for eBay manifold. I ordered a universal kit from Summit, however the lines included touch the manifold. I ordered new fittings and steel braided line again from Summit. Here is a copy of my invoice.

4: SUM-220846 8AN TO 3/8 NPT ADAPTER $2.88 $11.52
2: SUM-220887 -08 90 SWIVEL HOSE END $14.95 $29.90
1: SUM-230806 S.S. BRAIDED HOSE-8 6FT $26.95 $26.95
2: SUM-220890 8AN Hose to Female -8 AN $6.95 $13.90

I also ordered 2 of the straight -8an hose ends, i have no part number off hand, shouldn't be hard to find though now that you know what you need.

Intercooler and piping - This is why i specified it was an early model car, i tucked my intercooler behind the "cow catcher". Intercooler and piping was ordered from CXRacing.com, their kit has T-bolts, aluminum piping, and reinforced Silicone couplers, awesome deal, great quality. I used a holesaw where the factory airbox was to run the intercooler piping up through it.

Engine management - kept it simple, 22lb Ford injectors, FMU, Walbro fuel pump, SAFC.

Should pretty much cover it, any questions, ask.

Whats the point of the FMU with an SAFC?

12:1 FMU raises the fuel pressure 12psi per 1psi of boost.

SAFC controls the ~50% larger injectors in out of boost conditions.

I need to find a manifold for my car.

I need to find a M50 E30 turbo manifold.

That makes no sense. Why not just make the SAFC add more fuel when you hit boost?

I guess the stock AFM doesnt like boost but then the SAFC is kinda pointless... *shrugs*

The AFM maxes out with stock airflow and sends a 5v signal to the ECU at this point. If more "fuel" is added more than a 5v signal gets sent to the ECU and it throws a CEL because it's outside the ECU's parameters.

Basically what i'm doing is maxing out the stock AFM in vacuum and the FMU takes over for fuel in boost.

sounds like too much money/work for an inexact thing. Should just go after market ECU.
